It's a long and interesting road through life. One of the best things that happens
is that we meet and get to know other.
Thanks for taking a moment out of your life to learn something about me.
I was born in Manhasset, NY on June 26 in 1958. The first 5 years of my life was spent
in Syosset, NY and the rest of my childhood years in Oyster Bay, NY.
Growing up I spent a lot of time at the beach and on the bay. I spent many hours
sailing in a Sunfish. I also worked at a medical supply company so that I could afford to
pay to feed my horse Culprit.
From NY, I spent 4 months at CSU (Colorado State University) where I truly enjoyed the
scenery and surroundings.. but may not have been quite ready for the working part of
university life.
Back in NY I worked as a cashier for a bit and attended C.W. Post College for a
semester or so. Hmmm.. Still wasn't quite ready for a higher education, but life isn't
always that simple.
In November of 1978 I was married and in May of 1979 my husband and I joined the
United States Air Force. We took basic at Lackland AFB in San Antonio Texas.
From there we attended technical school for Electronic Warfare systems at Keesler AFB
in Biloxi, Ms. Then we moved to Eglin AFB in Fort Walton Beach, Fl. where we worked in
aircraft maintenance.
Eglin is where I picked up the nickname of FOD Fingers (Foreign Object Damage) after
accidentally dropping a few small components into the cockpit and having to have the sheet
metal shop take the plane apart to find them. (You only have to drop one component
in a plane before you learn not to do that very often!;-)
From there, we went back to Keesler as electronic warfare instructors.
While working as an instructor I attended night school and worked toward an
engineering degree. I must have finally been ready for higher education because I applied
for and received a full scholarship to Arizona State University where I completed my
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering degree.
After graduation I was temporarily assigned to the Civil Engineering Squadron at
Williams AFB in Chandler AZ. where Kate, my first born came into the world in September of
1989. Shortly after that I was back on track to Officer Training School at Lackland AFB.
Upon completion of OTS I was assigned to Wright Patterson AFB in Dayton Oh as an
aeronautical observables engineer. In May of 1991 I had my second child Alex.
In the summer of 1994 I applied to and was accepted to the Air Force Institute of
Technology at Wright-Patt. In the Spring of 1996, I graduated with a masters degree
in Operations Research.
Having finished my current higher educational goals my most recent life event was to
bring yet a third and possibly final child into the world. Melodie was born in August of
1997.
I am currently stationed at WPAFB where I balance my active duty requirements with the
rigors of being a single Mom.
