In Response To: french drain (Toni hughes)

Dear Toni,

In addition to the french drain, which is simply a downward grade ditch away from your problem areas that is filled with the proper mix of gravel, you might have the same problem that I did. I had to install a "curb" or footing for my fence to divert water from the higher ground behind my house. Since water has to go somewhere to seek its level, I had to then install a french drain out to the street at the side of the property. It requires some thinking out and some elementary surveying of grades, but worth protecting the foundation, etc.
