In Response To: lawnmower maintenance (regina)

You are correct to assume that you need new gasoline in your tank. If you add some fuel additve to your mower in the fall before you put it away, it might still fire ok and, more importantly, not varnish up your units fuel system.

Disposing of the old gasoline is a problem. I would suggest investing in a new gas container clearly marked "old gas" and eventually taken to the most appropriate place where weed control might be a problem. This is somewhat in jest, but at least will respect your neighborhood.

Extreme care should be taken not to start a brush fire, obviously. The old gasoline will still ignite even though it won't start an engine. Check with your city or local fire department. You aren't the first person with this problem in the neighborhood.
