In Response To: Re-Gouting shower tile (Nina)

This is an easy, if messy, procedure.

First, take the existing grout down to at least a 1/16th inch depth with various tools for this purpose (a church key works if you don't want to buy a special tool).

This insures that no moldy or discolored grout will show and offers enough depth for the new grout to stick.

Then (after choosing color), apply your new grout per the instructions on the grout container: Usually, to simply use a quality sponge to push the grout into the cracks and wait until it sets enough to sponge off the residue from the surrounding tiles.

Sound easy? It is, but take the time to do a good job of preparing the old tile and be sure to use a grout sealer after you finish the job and the grout is totally dry.
