In Response To: getting the Square foot of a room (David Van Dyk)

I'm not sure if you are asking the right question.

SF for a room means floor area. This means multiplying width x length. If the room is 10ft x 12ft then the room is 120sf.

If on the other hand you want sf of WALL space for painting, you need to multiply lenght of wall times height of wall, then add all products.

IE for a 10 x 12 room with 8 foot ceillings, you will have two 8ft H x 10 ft long walls (160sf) and two 8ft x 12 ft walls (192sf). Total is 192 + 160 = 352sf of wall surface (less window and doors spaces).
