A Handyman Helping Hand

Flagstone Patio

I have just finished setting all of the stones for our enclosed patio. I am going to leave the joints sanded {tight - 3/4 inch }. I want to prevent anything from growing in the joints, but can't use poison because our dogs have doggie door access and like to lick water off the rocks when we wet everything down. Patio also has a waterfall & pond ,and 2 parakeets. Poison is definetly out! I thought of using salt deep in the joints and sanding over that. Any thoughts? I also want to seal the stones with some type of clear coat finish so they look as good dry as they do wet. Any sugestions. Thanks, Rick
