In Response To: Broken step (Lolly)

Lolly,

I'm having trouble picturing why you wouldn't just remove the broken board that is there... and nailing or screwing a new board in place.

You may have to remove some trim to get the new board in place, or possibly put in some additional support for the new board to rest on/secured to, but it should be replaceable so long as the structure that holds the board in place is undamaged.

If you have any question about it, call in a carpenter and have them give you an estimate. If your not sure if simply replacing the board is a safe alternative, because you don't know how it is attached or if the pieces under are still firm... the cost saved in preventing a broken ankle are well worth having a professional look at it..

Have a GREAT Day!

Don
