And yet another question outside of my knowledge base!:-) Thanks for stopping by. If it is a fungus or mold it would indicate that you have trees or overhangs that are preventing the roof from drying quickly and allowing growth if that is the cause of the stains. I'm pretty sure that most home centers would have products designed to remove the stains, but don't know of anything off hand that would prevent it from coming back short of additional cleanings. You might check to see if you have sufficient air flow to the attic areas also. If you are trapping moisture under the roof, the source of the mold/fungus could be coming from underneath. Hmmmm.... Wish I had the answer of the top of my head, but haven't come across that in my travels..
