A Handyman Helping Hand

gas stove hookup

I think this is probably a no-brainer for you but I've never hooked up a gas stove and am a little nervous. There is a gas pipe coming up thru the kitchen floor and the pipe is closed off with a metal cap. I also see teflon tape around the threads. Is it as simple as just getting a large wrench and unscrewing the cap then screw on the gas stove fitting? The long flexible fitting is already attached to the back of the stove, so I'm hoping that's all I have to do. If you say that's all there is to it I will have the confidennce to struggle to get the cap off the pipe. If there is anything tricky to it, would you call a plumber to do it??

Thanks for any info or advice.

John
