In Response To: water softner blockage (Carole)

I had the same problem. My water has all kinds of crud in it and it takes a lot to get it out. What happened with my softener was particles from the pressure tank had clogged the jet that siphons brine from the resorvoir and had clogged the softener. Your softener is filled with tiny beads that are coated with some substance that attracts and holds calcium which is what makes water hard. It sounds like your system needs a good thorough back flushing. The normal regeneration cycle may not be doing the job. Tony
