In Response To: crawlspace (Phil Clement)

It has been said that in every situation there are only two rules. Rule number one "know all the answers". Rule number two "If rule one fails, know where to get the answers". Your question tweeked my curiosity. Well rule one failed me on this one so I checked around. My local electric company is into promoting energy savings. I'm not sure why since they are in the business of selling electricity but never the less they advised me that crawl space ventilation should be provided but not so much that pipes will freeze or too much heat is lost. I'm not sure how much is enough but where I live it seldom gets below 15 or 20 degrees and when it does it doesn't stay that way for long. Why don't you check with your local power company, heating contractor, or building codes office and see what they suggest for your area. Good luck, Tony
