That's sort of a pain. If they are the original small screws on most residential doors, they could be drilled out and replaced with a slightly larger/longer screw for reinstallation, but it requires a steady and straight drilling to get the old screw out. The head of the screw will drill off easy enough, but the remaining metal part of the screw would remain. If it is a thick hinge plate, drilling off the head and removing the hinge plate might leave enough screw exposed to vise grip them out.
