Pat,

I have never removed varnish in an attemp to refinish. From the quick look I took at some of the search engines, it looks like there are many readily available "gel" type chemical removers that others have used with good results.

Sorry that I can't be of more help, but when I don't have direct experience I don't want to steer someone in the wrong direction.

Follow the directions when using ANY chemical!! There are lots of things I do without gloves and glasses, but working with any type of stripper I do protect my assets...
