Ken,

It's been a long time since I've been in the stores looking for flooring. I suspect you know more than I from reading the boxes...

If you have only adults in the home, and it's unlikely that kids will be filling the toilet with paper and then fushing it running away while it overflows and sits unattended for hours while you are away at work (I have 5 kids....) or they won't be running semi finished McDonald's toys over the floor in the kitchen because it's the only non carpeted area...

You can put any floor anywhere!! With an appropriate finish and normal wear and tear, you will be happy with the floors in these areas. If the above paragraph has any bearing, and you do have evil (but loving) children, you might consider something else..
