In Response To: Lennox Heat Pump (John Woodhatch)

HOW ABOUT YOUR EMERGENCY HEAT??? THIS SHOULD WORK IIF YOU SWITCH THE THERMOSTAT TO THIS SETTING. DOES THE OUTSIDE FAN RUN?????? ARE YOU SURE WHEN YOU BROKE OFF THE ICE YOU DID NOT POKE A HOLE IN THE OUTDOOR COIL?? THE EMERGENCY HEAT IS STRAIGHT ELECTRIC HEAT...THIS SHOULD GET YOU OUT OF THE WOODS.....BUT DON'T RUN ON IT TOO LONG...IT IS EXPENSIVE....IT SOUNDS LIKE IT COULD BE RELATED,YOUR OUTSIDE DEFROST CONTROL(THERE ARE DIFFERENT TYPES, MAY BE BAD) IF THE OUTSIDE FAN MOTOR RUNS AND YOU ARE NOT GETTING HEAT,DOES IT SOUND LIKE THE COMPRESSOR IS RUNNING? IF BOTH ARE RUNNING IT COULD BE THE REVERSING VALVE IS BAD....TRY RUNNING IT ON COOLING ON A 45-55 DEGREE DAY FOR A FEW MINUTES....SHUT IT OFF FOR A FEW MINUTES..THEN TRY HEATING..SOMETIMES THIS CAN MOVE THE VALVE AND UNSTICK IT..IF NO RESULTS..CALL FOR HELP.....P.S.-LENNOX IS GOOD,BUT REPLACEMENT PARTS ARE EXPENSIVE BECAUSE ALOT OF THE PARTS HAVE TO COME FROM THE DEALER...
