In Response To: Icemaker repair. (Valerie Mitchell)

Valerie,

What a pretty name..

It sounds like some of the cam gears have slipped or broken and it is out of sync. More than likely will require replacement.

I have had mine apart at home twice and back together, each time extending the life a few months... But the gears are worn and the time I have wasted tearing it down and reseting the cams is not saving me enough money for the aggrivation of having it slip again.

But if your good... and can figure out how the designer inteded it to work once you have it apart.. you might be able to get it working again. I'd just replace it. Yes it will run $150 or so, but you should get good life out of it.

Or of course you can do what I'm doing until I get to the store.. Freezed ice by hand!!

Good luck!

Don
