In Response To: kitchen cabint refaceing (Bryan Wolfe)

I had a guy from Sears come and do an estimate several years ago. His estimate was about $12,000 for less than you have. And you end up with doors made of a composite material with a plastic facing. Stiles and rails covered in matching plastic. No wood. Then he tried to get me to sign up right there, offered a big discount if I would. The whole thing was ridiculous. I proceeded to remove all the doors and refinish them myself. Also the drawer fronts and stiles and rails. Biggest challenge was matching colors but I tried several mixes of stain until I got it right. Finished with a water based polyurethane. The cabinets are beautiful now.

For the cost of refacing you can get brand new cabinets(low end) installed, and have real wood cabinets.
