You might consider just looking at the timer, and not taking it out of the dryer to go buy a new one. There may be a LOT of electrical connections depending on the features your dryer has. It is usually easier to have both timers at the dryer, with one still connected and then take each connecion one at a time off the old timer and on to the new one.
I suspect you might have an unhappy technician if he comes to the house and has to figure out where all the wires go.
Check the condition of the interior drum where the clothes dry. Is the finish still in tack? If so, pick up a belt for it while you are there and replace that while you have it apart...
