With some experimentation, you can. One drawback is that the door will only open to 90 degrees if you install the hinges inside. You may find different hinges for different situation at the door hardware department. If security is the main concern, you can install one-piece hinges that prevent the door from being lifted out of its frame from the outside. If the wall is made of studs and drywall in the inside, you may consider a sliding door instead.
