Painting a tiled floor

We have just purchased a lake cabin and are interested in finding out tips on painting a tile floor. We believe the tile to be the old school type of flooring and we could carpet it; however, with sand and what not being tracked in we thought it might be smarter to leave it tiled. We would like to paint it a barn red, but are unsure of what it takes to prime, paint and seal a floor like this. What are the best products? Etc... Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
