In Response To: Re: electric eye (Phil)

Thanks for the ideas, Unfortunately using a motion detector in his room will not work. His room is down the hall and a light comming on won't wake me - which is what I want the most. Also his brother shares his room and could easily set off a motion detector himself which would wake them both. I could put one in the hallway but then anyone who passed, including his sisters, would turn on the light. It's common for them to get up in the night to go to the bathroom. The only want I want to know about is Mike because he doesn't have a destination. This also means he won't just turn around and go back to bed. The bracelet might work but I'd have to have one made (overkill I think) and I don't want to traumatize him with the idea. Mike is taller than his siblings so I was thinking I could set up a simple electric eye (similar to our garage door opener) above the heads of thos other kids. When it was tripped a ligth would come on in my room and I'd know that Mike was up as opposed to one of the other kids. Do you know how to set something like that up? I'm guessing radio shack would probably have parts but I don't know how to build something like that. I appreciate any other ideas!! Thanks,
