In Response To: electric eye (Jeff Cable)

You can replace the light switch in his room with one with a built-in motion detector. The light will come on when he walks past it. You remove the existing switch and reconnect the new gadget in its place. It's like replacing the light switch with a dimmer. Make sure that you get one with an override for daytime use. The question is will the light awake him from sleep-walking? Have you heard about those invisible dog fences? An electric impulse generated by a collar worn by the dog jolts the dog and force it to retreat. Not to sound offensive, you can use a similar system to awake your son when he sleep-walks. Instead of a collar, a wrist-band can be used. You may have to consult with a specialist to see if a system like that will work for your son.
