In Response To: Replace Exterior Door (Mark)

Since you don't have the option of purchasing a pre-hung door, remove the frame around the door completely. Remove and replace all rotten wood, threshold and sheetrock. Install a new frame around the door opening using wood shims to make the new frame 1/8 larger than the replacement door. Use 1X6X8s and 1X4X8s pine lumber to install a standard door jam and frame. If you are installing door frames on bricks, you need to secure them to the brick wall with concrete pins using a power hammer. Door knobs comes with templates fo cutting out the holes. I don't know about hinges, but they are not hard to put up. Use the old door hinges location to mark the location of the hinges on the new door and frame. Good luck.
