In Response To: Re: Vinyl Flooring (Don)

I just tore up the vinyl flooring in our kitchen last week. I got a tip from my brother who has his own flooring business. Take an old spray bottle and fill it with hot water. Spray the paper and let it soak for about 10 minutes. This works best if you work in small areas at a time so you don't have to kneel in the wet glue. Also, make sure the actual vilyl is removed (leaving just paper and glue). Then take a wallpaper scraper, which you can pick up at any hardware store for about $7, and scrape up the paper and glue. Some areas may require a second soaking. Some tips are to refill your bottle frequently because the hotter the water the better and when you get an area scraped wipe it off with a paper towel. It's a messy job, but it's well worth it.
