In Response To: Microwave Above Stove (Bob)

Your new over-the-range microwave oven has a built-in air extractor. There are two types: (1) vent out to outside of the house (2) recycle back into the room. If it is a vent-out system, then hook up the microwave air extractor system to the existing vent. The smoke from your cooktop will be sucked up in the bottom of the microwave and expelled into the existing vent and out of the house. If it is a recycling type, simply install you microwave over the vent (block it.) In that case the air filters in the microwave will clean up the air and recycle it back into the kitchen. I will go with the second option.
