Dirt Bike Ramp for a pickup truck

Posted By: John Down

I just purchased a dirt bike and when I attempted to put it on the truck a 6' ramp slope was too much, I could not come close to getting the bike up. I have two 2x8x10 planks and I am able to get the bike up, but the bed is 6' so I have to cut the boards in half to fit in the bed.

What I need is to come up with an idea for assembling and disassembling the planks for transpotation. I was thinking of a 2x8x2 board under the two halfs held with large carrige bolts. Is there a better solution for joining two 2x8x5 planks and having mechanical strenght to hold 250-300 lbs?

Thanks, Stratford CT.
