Converting heating system

Hi.

I'm currently looking at converting a 2400 sq ft traditional 4 level split home built in 1975 from electric baseboard heat to either oil fired forced hot air or baseboard hot water.

Anybody have any experience or ideas on cost to do the job? One minor savings is my plan to gut the family room which is beneath the upstairs bed and bath rooms. Should make it a bit easier to run what's needed. What would be easier to run; duct work for hot air or plumb copper for the boiler? Which is least expensive? Is it as difficult / real pain in the ass a job as I'm imagining?

Certainly, it can't be a whole lot of fun! I really would appreciate any feedback or help anyone could provide.

Thanks

John
