In Response To: Tile meets wood floor (Pat)

It depends. Is the terracotta tile edges where it meets the new floor neat and even? If it is, you just might want to butt the new wood floor up against the tile. If the new floor is lower, you can use an agled trasition strip to bring the level up to the tile. if the new wood floor is higher (very unlikely), you can overlap the edge of the tile with an angled nosing. If the tile edge is all screwed up, you can use a wood saddle to overlap the edges of both floors. I'd shy away from using a marble saddle as the character of terra cotta doesn't lend itself well to marble.
