No, the strip is not removed. Check your roof closely. The reason most roof shingles come off is they weren't installed with enough nails, the nails were shot through the shingle because of the use of power nailers, or the shigles were installed during cold weather that didn't allow for them to adhere to each other. What you can do is very limited. If you can determine that the roof was not nailed properly, you can try and call the company to come back and re-nail it. In every case, they'll just fix the loose shigles though.
