In Response To: Leaky flapper and squeeky garage door (Chris LeMasters)

Chris,

A. my toilets are running! Looks like I have ball flaps in the tank -- whay advice do you have for fixing (all 3 run constantly!)

You simply need to replace the ball valve at the bottom center of the tank. They sell several types, so getting the same type is an easy replacement. The rubber just gets old and stops sealing..

B. The garage door squeeks loudly when going up & down. Where should I apply oil and what type of oil? It's a 10 year old standard roller overhead door with an operator.

It sort of depends on where it is squeeking, but I would use 'spray lithium' (white lithium in a spray can with a nozzle attachment) that you can get at any auto parts store and spray each of the rollers, the rail, and any other moving parts. (not in motors!:-)

Good luck!
