It sounds like the roofing nails have loosened up. There really isn't much you can do except have that part of the roof replaced. Trying to re-nail shingles is usually and exercise in futility as the shingles get brittle (especially in the cold weather) and trying to work with them just breaks them. It may be time for a professional to look at the roof. (Once the roof is repaired your insurance company will usually pay for the inside repairs. Check your policy.)
