In Response To: circuit breakers (kevin franke)

It is possible for you to have a bad breaker, but it is unlikely.

More likely, is that you have a series of receptacles that are governed by a GFCI (ground fault circuit interrupter), which, in essence, is a mini cicuit breaker built into one of the outlets.

A GFCI outlet is normally found in bathrooms, countertops, garages, etc...and have reset buttons right on the outlet.

Simply check each one for a 'popped' or 'pushed out' reset button, push it back in to reset, and you should have power restored.

There can be other causes to your problem as well, but this is often the most common.

Regards, Joe
