Running Wire between floors

Posted By: Fred

I'm trying to run wires behind walls from the basement (drop ceiling) to the first floor. I'll be using CAT 5 wire to put this PC and the family PC on a home network. I'd like to run the wire behind the walls and into a wallplate. I've got it figured out ... except for how to run the wire from here to there. It seems (surprise!) that the subfloor is quite solid and not easy to get through. I was hoping that I would not have to drill a hole - or if I do - to make sure that the hole comes up in the correct spot!.

(After I do this, I'll be running TV cable to the second floor - ambitious I am).

Thanks in advance for your help.

- Fred
