In Response To: Mineral Wool vs Fiberglass (Dave B)

You may notice a slight differance in sound insulation with either product but nothing substantial. Either from above or below. You are wasting your money if you are relying soley on ths insulation to be an effective soundproofing treatment for your home.

As to insulating abilties, rock wool has a slghtly better insulating capacity early on, but diminishes and actually ends up being less than fiberglass over time. Reason is that rock wool compacts, unlke fberglass, and loses its insualting value by doing so.

The newspaper can stay in place with no ill results.
