If it is a new strip with new bulbs... the new strip is probably defective. There isn't a lot that can be wrong with the hook up. (assuming that the black and white wires are hooked to the hot and nuetral leads).. although that really shouldn't matter..

If you put the old bulbs in the new fixture try new bulbs first before returning the defective fixture..

Work SAFE! Always unplug/disconnect power before working on electrical appliances!
