A Handyman Helping Hand

plumbing

About a year ago, we had roto rooter come and repair our downstairs toilet. We were told that a root had grown through the line and was causing the overflow problem with the toilet. This did fix the overflow problem.

Now we are experiencing a low water level with the same toilet, as well as a foul odor being emitted from this toilet. We believe we need to replace the toilet as this house was built in 1979.

Please advise as to what the problem might be and possible solutions, as in new toilets, new plumbing?
