In Response To: lawn mower pull cord (grace)

Grace,Depending on your specific engine this is not a terribly difficult task. However it can be frustrating. The basic principle is that you need to get a new rope in the old hole. The trick is getting the tension set just right before you feel the rope through the hole. Too tight and you can break the spring. Too loose and it will not recoil enough rope to start the engine. If you can remove the starter assembly you can take it to a local repair shop they should be able to help you. If you want to tackle this job on your own you can get some better info at http://www.perr.com/forum.html the guys at this forum would be able to explain the process better than I can. Just get the Brand of engine and the model # . Good luck.
