door header leaks

Posted By: Cara DUTY

My back door header is leaking profusely. It has been raining all day quite heavily, and it has begun leaking within the past hour, (10:00 p.m.) The doors that are in the frame do not fit right, there are large gaps at the tops and bottoms, but I doubt this has anything to do with the leak. I am afraid it has to do with the roof. The doors are in our bedroom , which is a late addition to the house, done by semi-professionals who buy old houses and rehab them. The work is rather shoddy, but acceptable to the untrained eye.

What can we do about the leak? THe roof needs to be replaced in about 2 years.

A raccoon has been taking up residence in the roof rather close to the door, to the left of the door, in the corner of the roof.
