Jennifer,

Local regulations vary, and the only way to find out what the true story is, is to check with your city or county building inspection department to see if it is regulated and if you have to pull a permit, and what they might require.

Other than that, you need only follow the instructions for installation that come with the stove. They are all different as for as clearances and such.

If it is a used stove you might still be able to get the information from the manufacurer..
