Camille ----- Sounds like your pressure relief valve has gone bad. Since this valve is meant to protect you in case pressure builds up to unsafe levels in the hot water heater(I do not think you have this problem) I would suggest you replace the relief valve. The valves are available at hardware, home center or plumbing supply stores for about$5-$10 or any plumber can do the job for you. Good luck, Roger
