In Response To: cost of addition (Dee)

Dee -------------

This is an attempt by someone from the Chicago area, where labor, land and lumber prices may be quite different from SW Missouri, to give you a rough estimate on building a 900 SF addition. Many factors will affect the price: are you building on a concrete slab or foundation or on a full basement. Will the addition be one or two stories, how many windows or skylights and what will the interior finishing be like. A minimum cost would probably be $30.00 a sq. foot, up to $70-100 or even more for something with every bell and whistle. Price might also depend on how much "sweat equity" you are willing or able to contribute.

Most contractors or builders would be willing to discuss this with you and give you a more refined estimate. Good luck, Roger
