Running a new electrical line

Posted By: Greg

I would like to run a new electrical line to my garage. The existing line is overloaded (things turn off when I use my power tools), but I have room for additional lines on a 200 amp service panel. Therefore, I desire to have a sub-panel in the garage so that I could not only have a dedicated line for the garage, but I could also have three more lines for outside purposes (all 120v). I have been told that a single 240v line would be sufficient, yet I am still unsure. So, my question is this. Can I run one 240v line to the sub-panel from the service panel, or do I need more than that?
