In Response To: Cleaning my own carpet (Jeanyne)

Jeanyne,

I love that name!:-)

Carpet cleaning is usually a do it yourself project. It is wise to know a little about your carpet in general. Certain carpet makers recommend a dry cleaning. Most residential carpets do not fall into this catagory, but it's good to know if your about to steam it! The store where you got it should know.

I have had really good luck with rental steam cleaners like the 'rug doctor' by simply following the directions. Since it is the first time you will be cleaning them, you might want to pick a bedroom with older carpet, rent a machine, steam the bedroom and pick a place on the newer carpets in the living room/dining room and 'test' a spot. Then if the test meets your expectations, rent the machine again on another day to do the newer carpets.

Always follow the directions..

Good luck!!

Don
