In Response To: Restaining older fence: SPRAY it or BRUSH it? (Rick Robinson)

Whether you use an electric sprayer, a pneumatic sprayer or a pump sprayer, you will end up with a lot of paint or stain in one location.

Typically you will 'backroll' which simply means to roll a paint roller over the surface to spread the paint evenly.

(No the stain won't pull off in sheets..Yes it will run if you do not backroll)

This is why brushing AND simple paint rolling is really the fastest and least costly method of paintng a fence. Brush and rller. Cheapest and fastest. Go figure.
