Roof Trusses

Building room addition on existing house, intersection of two roofs. Room addition will have gable roof coming off of side of existing roof. Want to use scissors truss for room addition with valley jack member set to intersect existing roof. The largest and first truss of the member set, the girder truss; my question is where does the girder truss set on the new walls of the new edition or on the existing roof or existing walls of house?
