In Response To: Re: Painting linoleum? (ruth)

I have painted my plywood subfloor twice now. I have never tried painting linoleum so I don't know how that would turn out. We ripped up the linoleum and painted a 'terracotta tile' pattern right onto the plywood. The results are great and the first paint job lasted nearly two years. (We have a dog with long toenails, which added to the normal wear and tear!) I used (and would recommend) flat latex paint with a couple of topcoats of Benjamin Moore brand "Interior Wood Finishes" Polyurethane Finish'. It is completely washable/scrubbable and looks really good if you put a coat of Future floor polish on it once in a while.
