In Response To: Enlarging an interior door opening (Jenny)

What you propose can be dangerous not only to the structure of your home but life and limb as well.

If the wall you plan to install the doors in is non-bearing, you will have no trouble...If it IS bearing and you do not properly support the upper floors while cutting a new opening, and do not install a properly engineered header above the door, you ask for big, big trouble.

If you do not understand the engineering principles, hire someone who does.
