In Response To: Polishing hardwood floors (Mark J. Schulte)

Hardwood manufacturers recommend you never use wax on their floors. This means products such as Murphy's Oil Soap which leaves a wax residue.

Hardwoods should be cleaned only with a vinegar/water solution or special hardwood floor cleaners found at flooring suppliers.

Hardwoods can be intermittantly resealed with polyurethane for a like new appearance. Waxing the floors prevents polyurethane from adhereing to the floor, and requires the floors be completely stripped before using if wax is present.
