I liked Tony's answer. Double shame on you if you haven't supplied your partner with the proper power tools to do the necessary nest altering.

If you want a easier way to fix the problem, then consider gluing and tacking a small strip of wood or even the same laminate to the underside of the counter, depending on what you have availble and the depth of the rough ridge. Cutting self adhesive floor tiles is a good way to build up thicknesses of one sixteenth of an inch, but I am doing a lot of assuming here. Good luck. Wes
