About Us
Ask a Handyman has been around since 1998 and was started as a lark when I really
didn't have anything better to do with my time than to develop web sites and play around.
Initially I was the only one that answered the questions and they were pretty few and far
between.
It was built on a borrowed shareware Perl script. Over the years I got busy and wasn't
able to answer all the questions... and finally it got to the point where I didn't have
any time to answer questions. Thankfully a few dedicated individuals have taken the time
to pick up my slack and these handy people are giving out some pretty good advice. In many
cases better advice than I would have had.
In the spring of 2001 I finally decided that the in user interface was aging poorly and
remembered that I really didn't like the way some things worked in the borrowed script
(even though the message board was still active and there where still lots of good
questions and answers flowing through).
The site you are visiting today is a continuation of the original concept. That is to
provide a FREE place for Handyman type questions to be answered, by individuals just like
me. The old script and data structure is scrapped and hopefully you will find it a more
pleasant and helpful place to visit.
Good luck, and if you have any questions about the site operation or of a personal
nature please feel free to use the Contact Us menu item. If you have a Handyman
question... please use the Ask Us Here menu item.
I don't answer questions that come into
my mailbox directly. I have too many other obligations and the question/answer process of
the board itself may lend valuable information to someone else just like you.
